3 Year Olds Newsletter
Dear Parent,
This week we will be learning about resilience with two great books. We will read Pete the Cat: I Love my White Shoes by Eric Litwin and The Dot by Peter Reynolds. On Tuesday, we will be doing activities with Pete the Cat. Our learning goals will be: I can listen to a story, I can sort items by color, I can trace a straight line, I can glue shoes to fill in the missing spots, and I can keep trying. On Thursday, we will be doing activities to go along with The Dot. Our learning goals will be: I can listen to a story, I can sing a song, I can match sets of objects to numbers, I can follow a pattern, I can use my imagination to make a picture with dots.
Please remember to send a water bottle with your child each day and check his/her folder. An activity page came home last week that your child can work on and return for a prize.

20 Tips for Parents from Preschool Teachers
I found this article many years ago and I will be sharing a snippet with you each week. While 3- and 4-year-olds still need plenty of parental help, preschool experts agree that kids are typically able to do more than many of us think. Here's how you can encourage them:
Tip #1. Expect more. Most people have a way of living up (or down) to expectations -- preschoolers included. "At school we expect the kids to pour their own water at snack, to throw away their plates, to hang up their jackets -- and they do," says Jennifer Zebooker, a teacher at the 92nd Street Y Nursery School, in New York City. "But then they'll walk out of the classroom and the thumb goes in the mouth and they climb into strollers." Raise the bar and your child will probably stretch to meet it.
Have a blessed week!
Sincerely,
Pamela Nunnelley
