Feb 23 - Feb 27, 2026 - 3 Year Olds Newsletter

3 Year Olds Newsletter

Dear Parent,
This week we are talking about polar animals. We will be reading about polar bears and penguins. We will also be celebrating the first week of Lent, the 40 days leading up to Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. Each week we will decorate a symbol and bring home a prayer for the week for you to share together. We will also be praying the prayer at school. Our learning goals are: I can listen to a story, I can follow the teachers' directions, I can cut with scissors, I can count objects to five, I can identify the numbers to five, I can use glue, I can sort farm and polar animals, I can make a book about polar animals, I can draw a person, and I can sort by size.

Tip #10 for Parents from Preschool Teachers
Use sticker charts and rewards judiciously. "If your child is always working for the reward, he won't learn the real reasons for doing things -- that he should pick up his toys because family members pitch in," says Buss. Best bet: Reserve rewards for finite endeavors, such as potty training, but avoid offering them for everyday things, such as dressing himself or brushing his teeth.

Have a blessed first week of Lent!
Sincerely,
Pamela Nunnelley
