3 Year Olds Newsletter

Dear Parent,

This week we are celebrating our Catholic School. On Tuesday we will tour the church. Be sure to ask what things we found. On Thursday we will celebrate with you our parents with a doughnut snack at drop off time. Just come downstairs for a bit and celebrate!

This week we are also reading The Mitten. We will be learning a song to help us remember the story. Our learning goals are: I can listen to a story, I can sequence the events in a story, I can retell a story with props, I can match letters and numbers, I can trace on a line, I can count objects to match a number, I can do a dance and freeze song, I can be quiet in church, I can find the altar, I can bless myself from the holy water font, I can find a crucifix, I can find a statue of Mary, I can find matching mittens, I can touch body parts by following directions and I can order the letters in my name using a model.

Tips for Parents from Preschool Teachers

18. Prevent good-bye meltdowns. If your child is nervous about spending time apart, give him something tangible to remind him of you. Let him carry your picture; kiss a tissue or cut out a paper heart and put it in his pocket. Having something physical to touch may help him feel less anxious -- and short-circuit a tantrum.
